Rotten Potatoes, a broken car, 4 more weeks, and a movie

After raining most of the afternoon, having track practice at 6:10 PM did not look good.  But, I always enjoy going to see who will show up. I encouraged Chuck Malm to show up to see the turnout. To my surprise, the rain stopped and we had 12 to 14 people show up.   After running a few warm up laps, I noticed a strong smell on the north side of the track.   At first I thought it was the Burger King, but the wind was from the north and it did not smell like hamburgers. And, the odor was starting to grow on the really bad side.  I finally asked a few people what was causing the really bad odor.  And, everyone pointed to a pile of rotten potatoes in the parking lot north of the track.   Running in what turned out to be almost perfect weather suddenly had a very ugly twist of rotten potatoes.   I’m thinking someone should figure why they are there and tell me.

At the “gather around talk” by Hal Carlson, I asked for a doctor’s report on Hal’s neck.  Hal was not very happy to talk about it. He was instructed to wear the neck brace for four more weeks.  This was going to cut into Hal’s training for the climb up the Hancock building. Hal indicated he was going to make this climb with or with the neck brace.

I just read this in MSNBC. “It's estimated 40 million women in America suffer from sexual dysfunction.”  Juggling kids, partners, and careers caused this problem. Why don’t men have this problem?

Speaking of juggling, a man ran a 3:07 Toronto marathon while juggling. And, at the same race, 74-year-old Ed Whitlock ran a 3:02:40 marathon while juggling just 2 balls.  Sorry!

Speaking of marathons, Barb Cisler is going for a sub 3:10 marathon at Milwaukee this Sunday and Joan Benoit Samuelson is going a fast time at the Twin Cities Marathon (along with Vicki).

Speaking of the Twin Cities Marathon, Chuck Malm is skipping the race to go see this movie in DesMoines.

Speaking of this Sunday, I’m trying to get a group together to go see this movie in DesMoines, Iowa. The movie is “Saint Ralph”. It is about a ninth grader who wants to win the Boston marathon and was directed by a 2:20 marathoner coach.

Speaking of good running movies, I still have not seen “Fire on the Track”, the movie about the Steve Prefontaine story.

Speaking of running, Chuck and I ran to an auto repair shop to get Chuck’s Range Rover. It broke down on the way back to the track.

Speaking of breaking down, where should I start?
